City to clean up storm debris from Cedar Tree Point

Now that the city has received permission from the Coastal Resources Management Council, Department of Public Works crews will begin clearing debris from the Cedar Tree Point beach within the week.

To accomplish the work, as soon as there are favorable tides, crews will clear debris, some of which has washed up in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene, from portions of the beach that they can access with a beachcomber.

Mayor Scott Avedisian said the DPW will also examine the condition of the jetties to determine what, if any, action the city might be able to take to repair them and will replace a worn “right of way” sign leading to the beach.
