Claire (Silva) Blade, 81, of Warwick, passed away March 15, 2012 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of William H. Blade for 53 years.
Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Rego) Silva. A lover of children and education, Claire was an elementary school teacher for the Warwick and West Warwick School Systems until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
She was the devoted mother of Joan Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Hampton, Conn., Joyce Blade of Warwick and Julie Blade-Larson and her husband, Joel, of Maple Plain, Minn.; loving grandmother of Taylor, Blair and Chandler Johnson, Ian and Sarah McQuesten and Henry, Ella and Ava Larson; caring sister of Manuel Silva Jr. of West Warwick, Thomas Silva of Coventry, Joseph Silva of Palm Springs, Calif., Barbara Steele of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gloria Lafond, Elizabeth Silva and Theresa Enos, all of West Warwick, Veronica Peltier of Andover, Mass., Eileen Godin of Columbus, Ohio and the late Connie Felice, Dorothy Richard, Beatrice Souza and Lillian Duquette.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 19 in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St., West Warwick. Calling hours were March 18 in The Prata-Murphy Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick. Burial was private.
