Claire E. Butler, 91, a Warwick resident, died Friday, April 28, 2017 at West Shore Health Center.
Born and raised in Brocton, MA, Claire was a daughter of the late Frank E. and M. Eva (McSweeny) Butler. An educator in the East Greenwich, RI school system, she taught at the Easy Greenwich High School for 34 years, retiring in 1986. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degrees from Boston University where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Claire was a faithful communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Warwick.
Survivors include her beloved sister, Margaret B. Sola and cherished niece Kathleen Jewett and her family of Seattle, WA. She was the aunt of the late Eileen Kennedy and grand aunt of Elise Jewett and her family. She was a devoted friend of Mary and Stephen Hobbs, Catherine, William and Marguerite and their families.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 439 West Street, Brockton, MA. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, Warwick.
