Emery Eaton, 6, a Daisy from Girl Scout Troop 295 at Norwood Baptist Church, dressed as a thin mint to celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. The troop staffed a cookie booth in front of Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England office on Greenwich Avenue Saturday morning. Through the cookie program, girls empower themselves as they earn their own money to put toward a range of experiences from adventure-packed camping and canoeing, to exploring space science and designing robots, to taking meaningful action to improve girls’ communities. The program also gives girls hands-on opportunities to hone valuable skills like decision making and business ethics. Here, Emery makes a sale to Rose Downing, clutching the $5 bill so it wouldn’t blow away. And dressed as a caramel delight is Lily Bennett, also a member of the troop led by Kathleen Leander and Andelaine Sloane. Leander said the girls sold more than 1,000 boxes of cookies.
