STOLEN PLOW

Officer Manuel Pacheco was dispatched to Deirdra Court on April 28 around 9:05 p.m. for a report of a plow that had been taken from a resident’s driveway.

At the home he met with the reporting party, who stated that at approximately 7:30 p.m. the family noticed that a newly purchased Minute Mount II heavy-duty plow, as well as a full bed polycaster salter, were missing from the driveway. The total value of the missing equipment is estimated to be $10,000.

A neighbor told Officer Pacheco that she had returned home just after 7 p.m. and observed a tow truck at the victim’s driveway but didn’t believe it to be suspicious at the time. The victim’s residence was equipped with video surveillance, which the resident stated they would turn over to police once they figured out how to access it.

The case was forwarded to detectives for review.

STOLEN LAPTOP

On April 28 around 5:10 a.m., Officer Jamey Petit was dispatched to James Street for a report of a larceny from a vehicle.

At the scene the complainant stated that when she woke up, she noticed that the interior dome light was on in her car, which was parked in the driveway. She inspected the interior and found that it had been rifled through during the evening. She discovered that her laptop and case, valued at a combined $575, was missing.

Also taken was a zip lock bag containing various gift cards valued at approximately $100. While there are no suspects or witnesses, the woman indicated that she would like to press charges if one is found.

FELONY SHOPLIFTING

Around 8:21 p.m. on April 28, Officer Christian Vargas was requested to respond to the Pink store at Warwick Mall for a report of a female suspect in custody for shoplifting.

According to his report, at the store he met a female party, identified as Ashley Marie Ferreira, 28, of 2 Barrett Street, Apt. 3 in Fall River, who had been detained by Warwick Mall Security and Lieutenant Michael Gilbert.

Security advised that Ferreira had entered the store earlier that evening, and was immediately recognized from previous shoplifting incidents. Ferreira was observed moving quickly through the store grabbing random items throughout. She then placed those items into her bag, and attempted to leave the store but the security alarm had been activated. Security was called to the scene and approached Ferreira, who told them that they had been called for no reason. She was detained, and later $425.55 worth of merchandise was recovered from her.

Ferreira was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where it was learned that she had two previous shoplifting convictions. Due to the amount shoplifted and previous convictions, she was charged with one count of felony shoplifting. She was processed and held for the next session with the bail commissioner.

STOLEN TIRES

On April 27 just after 9 p.m., Officer Sokphannareth Chea was dispatched to the Ocean State Theater on Jefferson Boulevard for a report of stolen tires and rims.

At the scene he met with a theater employee who stated that a patron had come back into the theater to inform them that there were two cars in the corner of the parking lot with the rims and tires stolen from them.

Officer Chea then observed the cars, and took statements from the vehicle’s owners. Both owners indicated that they wished to press charges should a suspect be found. The reports were then forwarded to department detectives for review.

STOLEN WALLET

Officer Julio Benros responded to a Norwood Avenue address on April 27 around 7:10 p.m. for a report of a theft.

There he met with a victim who stated that he had his wallet stolen from his car sometime after 8 p.m. on April 26 and 6 a.m. on April 27. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was unlocked and parked in his driveway. The wallet contained his driver’s license and bankcard. There are currently no suspects or witnesses.

STOLEN STRETCHER

On April 27 at approximately 12:10 p.m., Officer Julio Benros responded to a parking lot on Cedar Pond Drive for a larceny report.

There the officer met with the complainant, who reported that his carpet power stretcher, valued at $550, was taken from his unlocked vehicle sometime between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. There are currently no suspects or witnesses.

STOLEN SUNGLASSES

Around 10:21 a.m. on April 24 Officer Rose Michel met with a victim in the lobby of police headquarters for a larceny report.

The victim explained to the officer that on April 1 at approximately 6:43 a.m. she and her husband left their car in the Thrifty Valet parking lot on Post Road and gave a key to the parking attendant. When they returned to the car on April 4, they noticed a shoe print inside the car and that two pairs of sunglasses, valued at a total of $900, were missing.

According to the victim, Thrifty Management was contacted and informed of the incident and are currently investigating the matter, however they had not yet provided an update. The victim stated that she wanted the incident documented as she waits for a response from Thrifty.

    There will always be opportunistic thieves as long as people continue to leave their valuables unsecured or in plain sight.
