Councilman Steve McAllister leads the way

To the Editor:

Kudos have to go out to Ward 7 Councilman Steven McAllister as well as the City Council and Mayor Joseph Solomon for saving the old Buttonwoods School/Senior Center and West Bay Offices. Steve has been the leader to keeping the building available for the Warwick seniors.

Now the building is going to be used for the seniors as well as an efficient location for the offices forced out of the City Hall Annex a year ago. This is a great move as it gives us plenty of parking, easy access and public transportation as well as a comfortable office environment for the employees. Without doubt, anyone who had to go to the former Draper Avenue location will celebrate the new location of city offices, and the seniors will have their favorite location back.

Remember when all of this happened?

Mayor Avedisian insisted that the building had to be sold. Only Councilman Steve stood up to him. Gently but firmly he opposed the Mayor. Today the rehab is in full swing and lots of people are taking an understandable bow, but just don't forget. Without Steve McAllister, none of this would have happened. He should be made an "Honorary Senior-Citizen".

Happy Valentines DAY Steve.

Happy Valentines DAY everyone.
