Cranston residents to appear in 'I Hate Hamlet'

The Community Players continue their 92nd season with Paul Rudnick's comedy, “I Hate Hamlet.”

Andrew Rally seems to have it all: celebrity and acclaim from his starring role in a hit television series; a rich, beautiful girlfriend; the perfect New York apartment; and the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park. There are, however, a couple of glitches: Andrew's series has been canceled, his girlfriend is still a virgin and he hates "Hamlet.” His dilemma deepens with the arrival of two opposing forces. The first is his friend Gary, the hot producer, with the offer of a new series in LA. The second is the ghost of John Barrymore, who has come to convince him to play Hamlet. From the moment Barrymore returns, Andrew's life is no longer his own.

The production features C. Richard Koster and Christine Lariviere of Cranston, as well as Ross Gavlin (Woonsocket), John Joseph Gomes and Susan Staniunas (East Providence) and Erika June Pastel (Lincoln).

“I Hate Hamlet” will be presented January 18-20 and 25-27 at Jenks Auditorium, Division Street, Pawtucket (across from McCoy Stadium) Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students through high school. Reserve at or call 726-6860.
