Well, the votes have been counted and the results aren’t being contested. It’s official that Cedar Hill School 5th grader Grace Marchand is the governor and 1st grader Brenton Zagryn is the mayor of Bus 35. Bus driver Bre Paine, who ran the 8-week campaign based on bus safety, administered the “promise” of office Wednesday to the victors. When Brendan learned Paine planned to “swear them it,” he told her his mother doesn’t allow him to swear. Paine promised to change it. In addition to backpacks with their designated office, the winners who both faced two opposing candidates, get to choose their preferred seats and implement safety programs. (Warwick Beacon photos)

Congratulations to all the candidates and especially "new Governor" Marchand and "new Mayor" Zageyn. Enjoy your preferred seats and I hope you make great success implementing new safety programs.
