See It at the Movies

* *

(Sequel as dumb as the first)

No way was I going to get Joyce to see Daddy's Home 2, a follow-up to the adventures of Brad (Will Ferrell) and Dusty (Marc Wahlberg) and their respective, completely opposite dads (John Lithgow and Mel Gibson).

Labeled as a "Christmas movie,” it is filled with holiday humor, including a tedious scene where the first Christmas is acted out, ending in utter chaos.

If you make it that far, the movie ends in the lobby of a Showcase Cinema. With a blizzard raging outside, motorists are stuck in the crowded theatre, with a sticky-sweet ending that has everyone kissing (literally) and making up. There's lots of physical humor, especially by Ferrell, and just enough bathroom and sexual humor to keep the young ones giggling. If you like silly, stupid humor and can put up with Ferrell for two hours, you may enjoy Daddy's Home 2. My greatest fear is that there will be a "Daddy's Home 3.”

Rated PG-13, with profanity.
