Dance Alliance from BYU-Idaho to perform at RIC July 26


Brigham Young University-Idaho’s touring dance group, Dance Alliance, will be performing in Providence at Rhode Island College’s Robert Hall on July 26 at 7 p.m. as part of this summer’s New England tour.

The company of 33 BYU-Idaho students will participate in a two-week tour themed “Beauty and Laughter – Come What May and Love It.”

The Dance Alliance repertoire is unique in that it encompasses many forms of dance, including ballet, ballroom, swing, tap, jazz, world and contemporary. The company takes pride in its ability to keep its music, costuming and choreography modest and family appropriate.

Jennifer Wadsworth, the company’s artistic director, said, “Our hope and effort is to bring a message of assurance and enjoyment that there is divine purpose in our existence and healing in our relationships. We look forward to sharing our appreciation for God’s creations and the opportunity to share our conviction of the beauty that life offers.”

Since its creation in the early 1970s, the group has performed at various locations across the world, including El Salvador, Panama, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Russia.

BYU-Idaho is located in Rexburg, Idaho, and serves more than 20,000 students from all 50 states and over 40 countries.
