David J. Hovey Sr., age 90, formerly of Burgoyne Drive, Warwick, died on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Genesis Healthcare in Coventry. He was the husband of the late Anna G. (Tullis) Hovey.
Born in Milo, Maine, a son of the late Lloyd M. and Rebecca L. (Connor) Hovey, he lived in Warwick for 50 years and was a summer resident of Yarmouthport, Mass. for 25 years. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hovey was president of the former L.M. Hovey & Son, Inc. in Providence; he retired in 1996. He was a former member of Valley Country Club in West Warwick.
He is survived by a daughter, Anita K. Hovey of Cranston; a son, David J. Hovey Jr. of Chepachet; a sister, Ruth E. Bird of Coventry; and three grandchildren, Jesse L. Hovey, Jaimie R. Brancato and Joia S.E. Brancato. He was the brother of the late Herbert H. Hovey.
