Dinner event to raise awareness of chronic gout

The Gout Exxchange, a free, educational dinner program about managing chronic gout will be hosted Wednesday in order to help others learn more about chronic gout, hear from a healthcare provider about a medication that may help treat chronic gout, hear from a patient about her experiences with gout and her treatment journey, and get answers to questions.

More than 8.3 million Americans are living with gout today, a painful form of inflammatory arthritis caused by an accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints. Unfortunately, just 10 percent of gout sufferers are getting needed, ongoing treatment. If untreated, the length and severity of attacks will become worse and more frequent over time. This program is designed to discuss the impact of gout and answer questions for anyone frustrated with recurrent gout symptoms who feel like they have run out of options. The event will take place March 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Eleven Forty Nine Restaurant in East Greenwich. Register for the event at www.thegoutexxchange.com or call 888-820-5634 with questions. Attendees are welcome to bring one guest to the dinner program.
