Edgewood has all the right moves for rebuilding

Saturday evening, the Edgewood Yacht Club hosted “Charting Our Course,” a benefit gala dinner dance at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet to raise funds for the rebuilding of the clubhouse. The clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 2011. The Edgewood Yacht Club dates back to 1889.

During the event, an architectural rendering of the new clubhouse was on display. The new two-story Edgewood Yacht Club will cost approximately $3 million to rebuild.

“Everyone enjoyed a great evening and dancing and delicious food, and was a great success,” Bill Plumb, a past commodore, said the following morning.

The evening included a silent auction with items such as a kayak, paintings, gift cards for dining in Pawtuxet Village and more.

Within six weeks, according to Plumb, permits will go to the Coastal Resource Management Council for approval. He also stated that talks are underway with Brown University whose sailing club has been based out of the Edgewood Yacht Club for the past 20 years.
