Elmer G. Tufts


Elmer G. Tufts, 89, passed away on May 20, 2012, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Providence, RI. He was the son of Elmer E. and Martha Tufts.

He was employed with Gorham Manufacturing for over 30 years. He served with the United States Navy as a musician. He was a talented drummer and a member of the Providence Federation of Musicians. He played with many big band and jazz groups.

He was preceded by his wife Laura M. Tufts; and his grandson David R Tilley. He is survived by seven children: Donna Byron-Kaminsky of California, Audrey Muratore of Florida, Joyce Cahoon of Cranston, Stephen Tufts of Cranston, Scott Tufts of Warwick, John Tufts of Warwick and Carolyn Treanor of Kingston. He is also survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren: and great-great grandchildren too numerous to mention.

His service will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter.
