Elmer T. Tate Sr., 97, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Kent Regency. He was the husband of the late Catherine M. (Kelly) Tate.
He was a son of the late Warren D. and Elizabeth I. (Taylor) Tate. Mr. Tate was employed as a foundry worker for Electric Boat for 32 years and detailer for the former Williams Corner Dodge for many years. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He was the father of Elmer Tate, Jr., Frances Sinkler, Joann Shulver, Laurene Tate, Robin Roberge, John Tate, Priscilla Reitz and the late Howard Tate, Warren Tate, Catherine Taylor, and Mabel Boyer; brother of the late Warren Tate, Ernest Tate, Louise Souza and Loraine Cocoran. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 12-2 p.m. with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
