Eric A. Richard, M.D. age 53, formerly of Warwick, passed away on October 24, 2018, at Highland Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y. He is survived by his wife Lisa G. Berrittella and children: Caitlin E., Jessica V. and John G. Richard.

Born in Providence, a son of Thomas F. and Martha (Brendel) Richard of Warwick. He was a graduate of Pilgrim High School (1983) and earned a degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania (1987). He received his M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine in 1991 and then preformed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Eric was a Doctor of Internal Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital and Chairman of the Clinical Program Council of the Department of Medicine. He was also a Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center as the Course Director for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine. He loved teaching and received numerous teaching awards over the years. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and was an avid reader. He enjoyed taking the day off on his children’s birthday and going to the local zoo.

He was the brother of Thomas E. (Jennifer) of Coventry, Laura J. of Warwick, Mark S. (Kimberly) of Cranston, nephew Justin T. and niece Lauren N. Richard of Coventry. He also had many friends and colleagues.

Funeral services were held in Rochester, N.Y.
