Every Tuesday and Friday

Posted

Fresh produce grown at the city-owned Barton Farm by Westbay Community Action can be bought on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. at the intersection of West Shore Road and Buttonwoods Avenue and Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. in the Kent Hospital cafeteria. Proceeds go to help operate Westbay Market. The farm also provides food for the market, which provides food to needy people. Here, Steve Stycos, who runs the farm, affixes signs to utility poles to get out the word. With the stand’s display of produce is Joan Carter. And shopper Loreen Berberena assures it’s a sweet pepper – not a hot one – that she is holding. (Warwick Beacon photos)
