During October, the Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) is hosting two Lunch and Learn Workshops on the subject of Eye Health Awareness.
The first session is on Wednesday, October 25 from 12 to 2 p.m. at OSCIL’s Warwick Office at 1944 Warwick Avenue and will be presented by Dr. Helene Bradley. She will discuss the aging eye and normal aging changes versus ocular disease.
The second session on Thursday, October 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. takes place at OSCIL’s Pawtucket office at 175 Main Street and is presented by Dr. Benjamin Klibanoff. His focus will be on the importance of having routine eye examinations and will discuss common diseases of the eye such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and dry eyes. Many of these diseases are not symptomatic and may only be discovered during a routine eye exam.
As part of OSCIL’s outreach and community education initiative, OSCIL offers these free “Lunch and Learn” workshops highlighting various solutions that can increase access in your home and community.
Advance registration is required; call 738-1013 if you plan to attend either session. Seating is Limited. Lunch (pizza) will be served. A sign language interpreter and CART have been secured for these events. The United Way 211 Resource RV will be onsite at OSCIL’s Warwick location on October 25.
