Family, friends turn out for police promotions

Mayor Joseph J. Solomon and Colonel Stephen McCartney joined the Board of Public Safety and the Warwick Police Department Tuesday night to celebrate the promotion of ten police officers in City Hall Council Chambers.

“I am extraordinarily proud of the men and women of our department for their continued dedication to our community,” said Solomon. “They are true embodiment of the motto “to protect and to serve.” I know, with this recent round of promotions, the Warwick Police Department will not only remain one of the best in the state, but one of the most well respected in the country.”

Unlike prior ceremonies where the mayor administered the oath to each officer being promoted, all the officers stood as Solomon administered the oath collectively. Then each of the men was called up separately as highlights of his career were read and a member of his family or friend came forward to pin on his insignia of rank. Applause was held until all the promotions were completed and following a benediction by Father Robert Marciano, the men formed a reception line where they were greeted by friends and family.

Those promoted are: Bradford E. Connor to commander and deputy chief, Mark Ullucci to major, Thomas C. Snow and Joseph A. Petrarca to captain; Andrew P. Sullivan, John J. McAniff, III and Eric S. Falcofsky to lieutenant and Jeffery S. Viveiros, Matthew P. Barlow and Timothy A. Kenyon to sergeant. Also, Officers John M. Zaborski and Adam C. Arico were elevated to detective.
