Flora loves flowers

Flora Papa told those attending Monday’s City Council meeting that she has always loved flowers and, in fact, has had to be persuaded by family members not to venture on private property to explore the gardens of others. But it is what she has done for St. Elizabeth Terrace on Warwick Neck that brought her to the Council meeting where she was presented a resolution of congratulations for all she has done to beautify the housing complex and the adjoining Cornerstone Memory Care Center. Ward 5 Councilman Ed Ladouceur, sponsor of the resolution, said it is people like Flora who give of their time and resources – she pays for the flowers – who make for a better community. Ladouceur is in awe that at 94 years old, Flora takes on such landscaping, adding that he’d have trouble keeping up with her. Flora was joined by St. Elizabeth Terrace fellow tenants, Linda Calore, Cecile Ladouceur and Shirley Steinle. Here, the councilman reads and presents Flora with the recognition.
