Francis J. Canning, 86, of Warwick died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn M. (Henry) Canning and the loving companion of Sandra G. Coutcher of Warwick.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frederick J. and Beatrice F. (Fisher) Canning. Francis was employed as the Chief Plumbing Inspector for the City of Warwick and later for the State of Rhode Island. He was a member of the Plumbers Union, Local 51 and a Communicant of St. Kevin Church in Warwick. During the Korean War, Francis honorably served in the United States Army.

Francis is survived by his siblings: Charles F. Canning and Gail A. Chace, both of Warwick and John J. Canning of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
