Francis M. Maaz, 94, died June 15, 2012. He was the husband of the late Marguerite (Glidden) Maaz.
Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, a son of the late Francis H. and Annie T. (Moran) Maaz, he had been a resident of Warwick since 1953. Mr. Maaz was employed by Aetna Insurance for 28 years and retired as a Claims Examiner in 1980. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He received his undergraduate degree from Holy Cross in 1940, and his Juris Doctor from Boston University Law School. Prior to World War II, he held a private pilot’s license. He was active with Babe Ruth Baseball and the Boy Scouts of America for many years.
He leaves two sons, Francis G. Maaz and Stephen C. Maaz, both of Warwick. He was the grandfather of Geoffrey, Joshua, Jonathan Maaz and Jamie-Lyn Maaz-Ricci; great grandfather of Alexia Maaz.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 8 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Clement Church, Long St. Burial with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 p.m.
