Frederick George Barlow, 99, of Arthur, formerly of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at The Arthur Home, Arthur, IL.
Fred was born August 14, 1918 in Providence, RI, the son of the late George and Anna (Lee) Barlow. Fred moved to Cerro Gordo and taught 6th grade from 1953–58 and was the junior high school principal, and 7th grade teacher from 1958-76, before retiring. On April 8, 1971, he married Eileen Born Helm. Fred was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo Masonic Lodge #600 AF & AM, American Legion Post #117, and Ansar Shrine.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eileen of Arthur; step-children Darrell Helm (friend Mary) of Tuscola, IL and daughter Marilyn Goggans (husband John) of Nokomis, IL; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and cousin Bob Lee (wife Sandy) of Providence, RI.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation and Masonic Rites conducted by Cerro Gordo Masonic Lodge #600 AF & AM. Burial was in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL, with military rites conducted by the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117.
