Free archery clinics at Y this Saturday

This Saturday the Kent County YMCA will offer Archery Clinics from 9 a.m. to noon for children 6 and older to experience firsthand this exciting pastime.

Archery is hugely popular with young people this year, featured in movies as diverse as the Disney/Pixar animated film “Brave,” the superhero blockbuster “The Avengers,” and, of course, the smash hit, “The Hunger Games.”

To provide young people an introduction to the sport, the Y will offer a free clinic including training in archery equipment, rules of the game, how to shoot a bow and arrow, safety and target practice. The Archery Clinics are led by certified YMCA instructors.

The Y offers Archery programs all summer long at day camps throughout the area for children wanting to gain even more experience.

The clinics are free and open to the public.

Kent County YMCA is located at 900 Centerville Road in Warwick.
