Free wellness fair is March 28 at CCRI
The public is invited to learn more about the issues affecting their health at the seventh annual Community College of Rhode Island Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the Knight Campus, 400 East Ave., Warwick. Admission and provided services are free.
More than 40 displays will be set up in the Student Dining Commons area offering information and demonstrations on issues ranging from diabetes and cancer prevention to Jazzercise, fitness and nutrition so participants can gather resources to improve their overall health and well-being.
A diverse range of organizations will be represented, including the American Lung Association, Enos Chiropractic Center, the URI Master Gardeners and much more. Roger Williams Medical Center will conduct blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings, and UnitedHealthcare will offer derma scans and BMI tests. Skilled martial artists from Tri-Force Mixed Martial Arts will perform demonstrations.
The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation will bring its Mobile Resource and Wellness Center to the CCRI Wellness Fair. The center is a residential-style RV used to promote breast health, nutrition, fitness and wellness programs.
Several CCRI organizations and departments also will be represented, including Allied Health and the Students for Environmental Action club. Students in the college’s Therapeutic Massage program will give massage treatments to attendees free of charge.
