Future brides could be dressless
After saying “yes” to the wedding gowns of their dreams, two area women are wishing they said, “no,” as Cinderella’s Bridal Salon at 245 Legris Avenue in West Warwick appears to have gone out of business this week and has the merchandise unavailable to customers, who are mainly brides-to-be.
Jennifer Koussa of Warwick, who paid in full for a $1,500 gown, along with a veil and earrings, in October, saw the news on TV Tuesday night.
“I was shocked and I kind of went crazy a little,” she said. “There were so many emotions that I was overwhelmed. I didn’t know whether to be sad or mad or what. It’s very discouraging because I had my heart set on this dress and now I may not be able to have it.”
While she planned to return to the store with her bridal party and pick out their dresses for the big day on Sept. 8, that’s no longer an option. Now, she is faced with the question of whether or not she should begin the hunt for another dress.
“It’s a setback,” Koussa said. “As far as I know, we can talk to customer claims and create a report. The phone as been disconnected.”
Koussa is correct. When 401-921-5422 is called, it automatically disconnects. Store owners Scott and Judith Gray could not be reached for this story.
Danielle Zarrella, who plans to wed in June of 2013 and recently put a 60 percent down payment on a $1,500 dress, said the situation is frustrating. Nevertheless, she and her family are working toward getting the dress.
“I think it benefits Cinderella’s to take the rest of my money and give me the dress because they have it,” she said. “What else are they going to do with it? I don’t have a problem shopping around but the dress is beautiful.”
The interesting part about it all, Zarrella said, was the fact that her aunt asked the store clerk the policy if the business went under. Her response was questionable.
“She kept saying, ‘If you’re nervous about it, you should just take the dress,’” said Zarrella. “Maybe they knew something but couldn’t say anything and she was trying to help us out. I thought I had this checked off my list and now it’s something I have to revisit and it’s a pain.”
