Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s July 8 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.69 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is six cents lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.75. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was twenty-one cents higher at $2.90.
“Despite prices either steadying or rising over the last two weeks, motorists are still benefiting from the fact that prices locally are lower than the national average and well below what they were a year ago at this same time,” said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs & Traffic Safety.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 38 cents, from a low of $2.51 to a high of $2.89. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
