Gloria Jean (Manning) Fairbanks, 71, of Warwick died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Hospice, Providence. She was the beloved wife of Bruce G. Fairbanks, Sr.

She was born in Providence a daughter of the late John P. and Gloria R. (Rooney) Manning. Gloria was the Director of Youth and Family Services, for the City of Warwick, before retiring in 2006. In 2008 she received the award for outstanding services to Warwick schoolchildren, through her work with Youth Services . A Warwick resident for over 50 years. Mrs. Fairbanks, was a Graduate of Warwick Veterans High School, Class of 1964. She served closely with the administrations of four Mayors, and served on the Board of Directors for West Bay Community Action and the Board of Directors for the J. Arthur Trudeau Center. She was the first Woman President of the Parents Council of Bishop Hendricken High School, and served on many other organizations in Warwick.

Besides her husband Gloria is survived by her devoted children Bruce G. Fairbanks Jr. (Gina) of Warwick, Brandon J. Fairbanks (Kerri) of East Greenwich, daughter-in-law Beverlee of East Greenwich, brother-in-law Michael W. Rooney of Warwick. She was the aunt of Vanessa E. Rooney of Warwick, and Michael P. Rooney of Warwick. She was the cherished grandmother of Ava Mae, Brooke, Bruce III, Brandon Jr., Madelyn and Julia. She was the sister of the late Susan A. Rooney.

Her funeral will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 9:30.a.m. from the Urquhart - Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 4-8 p.m.
