On Sunday morning, Veterans Day, the plaque dedicated on Veterans Day, 1980 in memory of LTJG Edward B. Shaw, mounted on a rock near Saint Mark Church in Garden City, was discovered missing.

“It was there Saturday night,” said Brenda Myette, a cousin of “Teddy” Shaw, who was shot down on Sept. 5, 1965 while conducting a reconnaissance mission over the Song Gia Hoi River south of Vinh. Born April 4, 1939, Shaw was a graduate of Cranston High School and had been in Vietnam for less than a year when he went missing. His remains have not been recovered.

The theft has been reported to police and Myette and her family are anxious for any information as to its whereabouts. Cranston Police said they can be contacted through their smartphone app, or anonymously through “TipSoft” at www.tipsubmit.com/webtipsstart.aspx.
