Harold M. Horvat has been elected president and chief operating officer of Centreville Bank.

Horvat has held various leadership positions at the bank since joining in 2014 and was most recently Executive Vice President, Chief Lending and Retail Officer. “This strategic promotion is a primary part of our transition to the next generation of leadership at Centreville,” said Thomas J. Lamb, Jr., Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the bank’s annual meetin. “Hal is a proven banking executive who has successfully directed and grown our commercial lending enterprise, as well as restructuring and rebuilding our consumer lending business. In addition, he is currently overseeing the modernization of our branches and our strategy for branch expansion.”

Horvat’s banking career spans more than three decades, beginning at Old Stone Bank in Providence. He has held various positions of increasing authority with several community banks, including serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Mansfield Bank, Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Horvat serves on the board of FRIENDS WAY, the only family bereavement center in Rhode Island, and was the recipient of the organization’s 2017 Michael E. Wiggins Leadership Award in honor of his more than ten years of volunteer service as a group facilitator. He is also on the board of The Business Development Company, which provides needed capital to local businesses.

A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Horvat also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Bryant University. A lifelong resident of Rhode Island, he and his family live in Cranston.
