Hannah the hero

Hannah Silvia was honored at a ceremony called “Burrillville Police Department Awards Ceremony and Heroes in Our Community” on Sept. 30.

Hannah called 911 on Dec. 27, 2012 after her mom, Emily Silvia, passed out from a seizure. Hannah was 6 years old at the time and was home with her 3-year-old sister Cheyanne and 1-year-old sister Meadow. Hannah kept them calm until Chief Deputy Michael Gingell arrived at their home. Hannah also called her father, Michael Silvia, at work. Hannah is pictured here receiving her Medal of Honor and Award Certificate, along with a Build-A-Bear Rabbit that says, “You’re a Hero Hannah.” With Hannah is her dad Michael and mom Emily and Chief Deputy Michael Gingell. Hannah and her family moved from Warwick to Burrillville in 2011. Hannah is the granddaughter of Kathleen Laprad and David Silvia of Warwick, Timothy Hathaway of Woonsocket and Ruan Hathaway of Pawtucket, and great-granddaughter of Alice Burnham.
