Hawks, Pilgrim girls compete at New England championship
Bishop Hendricken had several competitors delivers strong showings at this weekend’s New England Track and Field Championships, which were held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury, Mass.
Tyler Henseler was the top finisher for the Hawks with a ninth-place showing in the mile run. Henseler crossed the line in 4:28.84. Teammate Mark Vuono was 15th in 4:35.04.
In the two-mile run, Colin Tierney finished 14th in the 9:40.7, with Michael Potter taking 22nd in 10:00.58.
The Hawks took eighth place in two relays. Alex Perreault, Ryan Brannigan, Kyle O’Connell and Power Kanga placed eighth in the 4x200 in 1:33.24. Perreault, O’Connell, Brannigan and Jordan Barboza teamed up for eighth in the 4x400 in a time of 3:30.71.
Off the track, Nick DeCiantis was the top finisher with a 10th-place finish in the shot put. DeCiantis recorded a best throw of 49 feet, 5.75 inches. Teammate Mike Pecchia finished 26th in the shot with a throw of 45-05.75.
On the girls’ side, Pilgrim’s Becca O’Donnell and Destinee Barrette were the only Warwick participants. O’Donnell took 24th in the long jump with a best of 15-03.25. Barrette finished 25th in the shot put with a throw of 30-10.5.
