Summer Stage at Bishop Hendricken will hold its first-ever Block Party, Friday, July 7 beginning at 4 p.m. at Bishop Hendricken High School.

An evening in celebration of the 2017 Summer Stage at Bishop Hendricken season, the Summer Stage Block Party will feature the 2nd annual performance of the Ten Minute Play Festival under the stars, as well as selections from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind performed by Summer Stage program alumni. In addition, the evening will feature an array of food trucks, a beer/wine garden, bouncy houses, backyard games, and live music from bands and performers in the Hendricken community.

Admission for the evening is $10 at the door, and includes both performances, access to the bouncy houses, backyard games, and live music. The alumni performance will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the Ten Minute Play Festival will begin at 8:30 p.m. Parking will be available in the Oakland Beach Avenue Lot on the Bishop Hendricken campus. For more information, visit www.hendrickendrama.weebly.com, or call 739-3450 ext. 172.

"After the tremendous success that the Ten Minute Play Festival saw last year, we're very excited to expand this evening to include even more for various members of our arts community," said Richard Sylvia, Summer Stage at Bishop Hendricken Program Director. "This event will be a great opportunity for current and former student artists to come together with their families and friends to celebrate the continued success of our program."

The Ten Minute Play Festival will be directed by Summer Stage at Bishop Hendricken alumni currently pursuing the arts, including: Peter Mancuso '15 (Film, Television and Media Arts at New York University-Tisch), Julianna Fielding (Fine Arts & Theatre at Suffolk University), and Matthew Beaune '16 (Theatre at Muhlenberg College). The production's cast and stage management team will be comprised of current student artists from public and private schools from around the state.

Summer Stage at Bishop Hendricken provides a professional, educational, and inspiring experience that promotes the positive development of student artists in a safe and supportive community. Since 2000, Summer Stage has been offering an environment where young artists can come together to produce artistic experiences as a caring community. As we make our way into the future, the program grows in every capacity, allowing Summer Stage participants to grow and tackle new challenges in the world of the arts.
