He's a champion
In late March, Hasbro Children’s Hospital named 11-year-old Tony Torres as the 2012 Rhode Island Champion for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during an event at Wal-Mart in Warwick. As the 2012 champion, Tony will act as an ambassador to the hospital at numerous events throughout the year. Tony was born with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare inherited disorder that causes his skin to blister with even slight trauma. Tony has undergone nine surgeries on his hands at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he has also been a patient of the Partial Hospital Program. Tony is an electronics and technology whiz who wants to develop apps for Apple and become a geneticist. He is pictured here with Simone Thomas, Wal-Mart associate.
