Blackstone Valley Tourism Council (BVTC) announces the 25th season plying the waters of the Blackstone American Heritage River System; as the 40-passenger river tour boat

Making its debut in the summer of 1993, as part of the bicentennial celebration of the American Industrial Revolution, the

2017 public narrated river tours will be operating on the following dates, with weekly Sunday nature & heritage tours hourly at 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm; and environmental tours on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month at 10 am & 11 am from the following sites:

May 13 to June 18: Central Falls Landing, 20 Madeira Ave., Central Falls.

June 25 to July 16: Al’s Waterfront Restaurant, 28 Water St., East Providence.

July 23 to Sept. 10: Festival Pier, 100 Tim Healey Way, Pawtucket.

Sept. 16 to Oct. 29: Cold Spring Park, 101 Katherine Rd., Woonsocket.

On the nature & heritage Sunday tours passengers will hear stories of the workers, residents and early settlers of the Blackstone River Valley and what it took to make our region what it is today. As the 45-minute tours wind along the waters and thick foliaged riverbanks you may get a chance to see the great blue heron, hawks, deer, turtles, or even the returning Bald Eagle, that live along the renewed waterways.

The environmental Saturday tours allow passengers to discover the river’s environment alongside Mystic Aquarium Science Educators. Learn about the science of the river’s plants, animals, wetlands and recovery from pollution. These 45-minute tours also feature a unique opportunity to interact an underwater remotely-operated vehicle to see what’s below the river’s surface.

Over the last 25 seasons, hundreds of thousands of passengers taking the riverboat tours have come to learn and discover interesting facts about Blackstone Valley, and see a quiet beauty many were often surprised to find.
