Historic Park Theatre announces performances for 2012-2013 Season, new Flex Ticket program

After a successful 2011-2012 season of performances that included Kevin Costner & Modern West thrilling a sold-out audience, the legendary vocals of 10-time Grammy Winners The Manhattan Transfer and the undeniable energy of critically-acclaimed Celtic fiddler Natalie MacMaster, the historic Park Theatre looks to continue its momentum as one of Rhode Island’s premier performing arts centers. The theatre has announced its lineup for the 2012-2013 season along with a special Flex Ticket program. Tickets for all of the shows are currently on sale.

Since reopening in late 2009 following more than $10 million in renovations, the revitalized Park Theatre has worked to establish itself as a premier venue for live performances by securing first-class shows. And, with the announcement of the upcoming season’s schedule, patrons have plenty to look forward to.

“The past year was a successful one for the Park Theatre as we hosted some tremendous shows and received wonderful feedback from the community,” said Piyush Patel, owner of the theatre. “Looking ahead to our new season, I couldn’t be more excited about the shows and performers we’re bringing to Rhode Island. Not only does our lineup offer something for everyone, we’re pleased to give our patrons a special Flex Ticket Program that will make it even more affordable to enjoy our world class facility.”

The Park Theatre’s 2012-2013 season features a wide variety of live musical performances including jazz, classical, blues and rock along with internationally-acclaimed dance acts, comedy, family events and more. On Friday, Oct. 19, Drumline Live will march into the Park with its explosive energy, athleticism and mix of eclectic sounds. Created by the music team behind 20th Century Fox’s hit move Drumline, the show promises to be a thrilling spectacle as it brings show-style marching bands to the theatrical stage.

Considered the pioneer of American blues, Buddy Guy has influenced some of the most notable musicians of his generation including Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. An inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, “Rolling Stone” magazine lists Buddy Guy 13th on its list of the Top 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
