Home & Hospice offers cardiac care program

February is American Heart Month. For many, this means focusing on keeping your heart healthy, but for those with advanced heart disease, it means dealing with a specific set of symptoms to promote the highest possible quality of life.

Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island’s “Joined in Care: Cardiac Program” offers a personalized plan of care to provide physical, emotional and spiritual comfort based on the needs of each individual patient with advanced cardiac disease.

“Individuals with advanced heart disease are often beset by distressing symptoms such as fatigue, pain, difficulty sleeping, swelling, breathlessness, depression or cough,” said Terry Rochon, RNP, director of palliative care and clinical program director at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. “HHCRI’s team understands what symptoms are specific to advanced heart disease and will respond rapidly with suggestions to increase comfort and ensure relief.”

Other issues that the program team addresses include nutrition, medications, safety, emotional challenges, spirituality and relaxation.
