Homewood Suites rolls out red carpet for business after hours

It was billed as a Business After Hours, a networking event coordinated by the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Homewood Suites.

However, the night was much more than advertised as dozens of Chamber members enjoyed what they called “an exceptional facility” that many of the attendees admitted they didn’t even know a hotel of such magnitude was located off Metro Center Boulevard in Warwick.

General Manager Charles F. Ryan III spent much of the three-hour session, which included everything from door prizes to food fest – taking people on tours and showing off the Hilton-brand hotel.

“I never knew you were here!” said Peter G. Dodge, a manufacturer’s representative for PGD Enterprises, LLC and popular House Chairman for the Tri-City Elks Lodge, as he began talking with Ryan. “Wow! This place is unbelievable.”

Ryan’s reply was simply: “Thank you; we get that all the time. There are a lot of people that don’t know about us. But we’re growing all the time. It’s events like this that really help.”

Homewood Suites rolled out the red carpet for last Thursday evening’s Business After Hours, which surprisingly wasn’t wiped out from a late afternoon rain and electrical storm that did, in fact, knock out power in some parts of Warwick.

But everything was a go at Homewood Suites, as Chamber staffers Maria Puleo and Denise Drouin set up a mini-check-in center and helped Ryan and his staff welcome an estimated 80-plus people to Homewood Suites by Hilton. The hotel is officially located at 33 International Way, off Metro Center Boulevard.

Chamber members and their special guests learned about Homewood Suites, which Ryan later explained is more of an extended stay-type hotel but that once people realize it’s a Hilton-brand hotel, that automatically increases night stays.

The night’s attendees were also treated to what Chamber President Lauren Slocum said was “a great relaxed social setting with an abundance of fantastic food.”

Ryan and his staff left no stone unturned on this night and took every opportunity possible to introduce people to what Sean Lamontagne of Nadeau Corporation called “a place I’m definitely coming back to and will recommend to everybody and anybody looking for a place to stay in Warwick.”

There was more than food and humble hospitality at this Business After Hours. Attendees were treated to the music of Michael Silvia, who sings and plays guitar. Silvia was set up in Homewood’s “Lodge,” a huge living room-like area where breakfast and dinner is served daily to extended stay guests.

“I’m coming back here to stay,” said Bruce Perreault, a registered representative for Oceanstate Financial Services who actually won a night’s stay during the networking night’s traditional drawing. “This place is beautiful.”
