How to be a perfect patient

To the Editor:

Because I have had a few physical problems lately, the following thoughts occurred to me.
Because some of your faithful readers might also find their health is heading downhill, I thought my ideas might be of some help.
Do as many things as you can for yourself. Your family will love you for this, and a personal caretaker might charge less.
Keep lists of meds and the time they should be taken in plain sight, like right next to your easy chair or on the kitchen table. Next to your bed is a good choice, too.
Do minor chores, if you can, like making your bed or washing a few dishes.
Think positively. Don’t be grumpy.
Smile often. (Unless your teeth need fixing.)
If a friend tells you a corny or stale joke, laugh anyway.
