In shadow of airport terminal, Fairfield Inn & Suites opens

The fresh fruit as well as the cereal and the making of breakfast were waiting for guests yesterday morning at the 202-room Fairfield Inn & Suites that opened Monday.

But as guests enjoyed the new design and renovations to the former Comfort Inn, work continued on completing the landscaping and features of the covered entryway. That didn’t slow anybody down, least of all David McKeon, the general manager. He had people waiting to talk with him as he rotated between the kitchen and a bright area where guests will be able to enjoy coffee and breakfast before tackling the day’s activities.

Located at 1940 Post Road, the former Comfort Inn Warwick is now operating as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by TPG Hotels & Resorts of Cranston. Rates begin at $129 per night. The hotel, tucked in behind the airport garage has a covered walkway to the terminal.

“Delivering both function and comfort, our new design and décor elevate the Fairfield brand, setting a new standard in the moderate tier category,” Callette Nielsen, vice president and global brand manager, Fairfield Inn & Suites said in a statement.

McKeon is responsible for leading all day-to-day operations at the freshly renovated hotel. He brings nearly 25 years of hospitality industry experience to the hotel, most recently serving as Director of Room Operations at the Renaissance Providence Downtown, which is also operated by TPG Hotels & Resorts.

“David brings a wealth of industry experience to our completely renovated hotel at T.F. Green Airport,” Kimberly Greene, Regional Vice President of Operations for TPG Hotels & Resorts, said in a release. “Having worked with David for many years, I am very confident that he and his team will deliver exceptional guest service with an energy reflective of the remarkable transformation of this property and youthful spirit of Fairfield brand by Marriott.”

The hotel’s open public space features natural light and views throughout the lobby to connect the indoors with the outdoors.

Guests can also unwind in the lobby’s living area, whose focal points include a natural stone hearth, organic-shaped sofa and lounge chair, and unique local features – or they can grab a drink or snack item from the 24/7 Corner Market.

The breakfast area’s signature farm table provides a central gathering place where guests can watch television, meet up with colleagues or get work done. In the morning, guests can enjoy complimentary hot breakfast, choosing from oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles and other healthy items, such as fruit, yogurt, and whole grain cereals and breads.

The

room décor welcomes guests into a comfortable, productive and restful environment. Flexible and functional, the guest room includes a well-designed work area, an ergonomic chair, task lighting and electrical outlets where guests need them. Each room also comes equipped with a refrigerator.

Additional hotel amenities include the Hangar No. 1 lobby bar and patio, a fitness center, a complimentary airport shuttle, valet laundry service, complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as fax and copy services. The hotel is also ideal for business meetings, offering the Goddard Meeting Room, with 620 square feet of meeting space, and the Rocky Point Meeting Room with 475 square feet of meeting space.
