Indian, Australian fare planed at new Garden City restaurants

New food destinations are planned for Garden City Center with the announced additions of Chaska Indian cuisine and Australian-inspired café Sydney Garden City. Both have planned openings for the winter of 2019.

From the restaurant group responsible for Kabob and Curry, Rasoi and Rasa comes new restaurant Chaska. This restaurant promises opportunities to eat, drink and socialize over flavorful Indian cuisine. The menu will feature freshly baked Naan, chicken tikka masala, lamb kebab and vegetarian options including spiced curry dishes. Chaska will be located next to Bistro 22. Australian-inspired café Sydney Garden City will offer sophisticated, healthy ingredients. Much like its sister location Sydney-Providence, the all-day café will serve up its famed avocado toast, an array of baked goods, a selection of Illy coffee drinks, loose teas and on-tap Kombucha. Sydney Garden City will be located adjacent to Anthropologie.

Garden City Center invites customers to stop by the Courtyard, located near Bistro 22 for live jazz on Friday nights in September, a perfect way to start the weekend. The sounds of jazz music can be heard from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 21 and 28.

“In late September we celebrate the completion of construction of 30,000 square feet of retail space as the newest additions to Garden City open their doors,” said Joe Koechel, general manager of Garden City Center. “This year also marks the 70th anniversary of Garden City Center. We are proud to have served the public with our dining, shopping and entertainment options for five generations and look forward to continuing to evolve to meet the needs of our customers.”

Tropical Smoothie Café will open on Saturday, Sept. 29 in the newly constructed retail space between Newport Creamery and Bank of America. Garden City’s newest restaurant additions will both open in the coming weeks. Popular local chain sports bar and neighborhood restaurant Tavern in the Square is scheduled for a fall opening. Legal Sea Bar, a Legal Sea Foods concept, offering casual seafood-centric dining and an outdoor patio, is planned to open this fall.
