On Monday, November 21, Rocky Hill School will host Marc Prensky, an internationally acclaimed speaker, writer, consultant and innovator in the field of education. Prensky’s talk will be held in the School’s Campbell Center at 6:30 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public.

Prensky is best known as the inventor and popularizer of the terms “digital native” and “digital immigrant,” which he described in a 2001 article in the educational journal “On the Horizon.” He is considered one of the world’s leading experts on the connection between learning and technology. Prensky offers deep experience and insight into educating today’s youth and into using technology – including social media, virtual worlds, programming, games and apps – in powerful ways for learning. He has written several books on education, his most recent being “Education to Better Their World: Unleashing the Power of 21st-Century Kids” (August 2016).

Prensky’s visit to Rocky Hill is part of the School’s “RHed Talks” (Rocky Hill Educational Discussions), a talk series featuring thought leaders in education. Previous RHed Talks presenters have included thought leaders in mindfulness, passion-based learning, and art in education. On December 8, Rocky Hill School will play host to Greg Toppo, education editor at USA Today.
