James E. Berube 71, of Deerfield Beach Florida and formerly of West Warwick, died May 11,2018 at the Deerfield Health and Rehab. Center.

He was born in Providence, a son of the late Edward and Ruth (Reavey) Berube. Mr. Berube was a United States Army Veteran. James was an Educator for the Warwick School System for over 28 years, before retiring in 1998. He was an active Baseball Umpire for many years in Rhode Island. He was a member of the Assn. of Baseball Umpires of RI, and an active duckpin bowler and a former Director of (D.P.B.A). He served as a coach for Pilgrim High School Basketball Teams (Girls).

James was the brother of Robert P. Berube(Cheryl A.)of Cranston. He was the uncle of Brigitte O. DeSomma (George) and Chad A. Berube and his grand niece Allyha Berube.

His Funeral will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Urquhart - Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church,360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Thursday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
