James J. Carroll II, 27 years young, took his final flight January 16, 2018.

Born and raised in Warwick, RI, but currently living in Chicago, James was a 2008 graduate of Toll Gate High School as well as the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center's Children and the Elderly Program. While attending WACTC James was an active member of SkillsUSA RI as a state gold medalist and national silver medalist in addition to being a State Officer. James went on to attend Wheelock College before transferring to Curry College where he would earn his Bachelors Degree in 2014. In 2015 James joined the United Airlines family as a flight attendant, finally discovering his passion for flying and caring for others could be a perfect career.

James is survived by his parents, Barry and Pamela Carroll, previously of Warwick, RI, currently of Edgewater Fl; and his sister Katie of New Orleans, LA. James also leaves his beloved fiancée, Katie Barrington of Chicago, IL. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, George and June Comley of Westford, MA; uncle Arthur Riley and aunt Martha Riley of Warwick, RI; aunt Paula Wyatt of Palmetto, FL; uncle Barry Probst and aunt Patricia Probst of Brockton, MA; uncle David Comley and aunt Lisa Comley of Westford, MA. Additionally James leaves a host of friends whom he loved dearly across the country and around the world. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, James and Mary Carroll of Warwick, RI, and his uncle and best buddy, Robert “Bob” Spencer of Warwick, RI.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday January 27, at 10 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 26, from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Meeting Street School of Rhode Island.
