James T. Doyle, 76, died Friday, October 20, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was the beloved husband of Jo-Anne (Krogstie) Doyle.

He was a son of the late William J. Doyle and Mary E. (Quinn) Doyle-Sim. He was the step-son of the late Alex B. Sim. Jim grew up in Cranston and resided in East Greenwich for 43 years. As a youth he attended Rocky Hill School, and then Cheshire Academy in CT. He was a graduate of Norwich University in Northfield VT, class of 66’. He received his Masters of Education from URI in 1978. Jim was a 32 year veteran of the Providence Public School District, starting his career at the elementary level at Flynn Model School. He then went on to teach math at Roger Williams Junior High, Mt. Pleasant High School, and Classical High School, where he finished his career. Jim was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school, volunteered as an adult leader for the youth group, and served as an usher. He was also active in scouting with Troop 2 in East Greenwich. As an assistant scoutmaster he was also a member of the East Greenwich Boy’s Home Association, which serves to provide financial support for Troop 2. Jim also served as past president of the Rocky Hill Alumni Association.

Besides his wife he leaves his son James T. Doyle, Jr. and his wife Amy of Concord, NH; his daughter Rebecca E. Morales and her husband Jesus of Coventry. He also leaves his grandchildren Emily, Lilliana, Samuel, and Madeline, and was the grandfather of the late Gabriel Jesus and Molly E. Morales. He also leaves his brother Robert J. Doyle and wife Jacqueline of Naples, FL; his sister-in-law Patricia Doyle of Warwick; his nephew Sean P. Doyle of Warwick, and was the brother of the late William J. Doyle.

Relatives and friends are invited to a service, Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11 a.m., in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Warwick Ave. Burial in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.
