Johnston man indicted on arson charges

A Johnston man has been indicted in connection with a pair of fires at vacant homes in town late last year.

Brian Rosa, 22, of 43 Lee St., is charged with two counts of first-degree arson, four counts of conspiracy and two counts of breaking and entering, according to the office of Attorney General Peter Kilmartin.

Prosecutors allege that Rosa and an unnamed, un-indicted co-conspirator broke into a vacant home on Yale Avenue on Oct. 24 and set fire to it. Then, on Nov. 3, prosecutors say the two broke into another vacant home on Greenville Avenue and started a blaze.

Johnston police and the state fire marshal’s office investigated the fires. Rosa’s arraignment in Providence County Superior Court is scheduled for April 30.
