Johnston student recognized during Revolution home game

Johnston resident Noam McNicoll was recognized by Santander Bank on field at halftime of the New England Revolution game on Saturday, Aug. 12.

McNicoll was one of 10 Santander Soccer Scholars alumni from the 2015 and 2016 seasons who returned to Gillette Stadium on Saturday, joining five current 2017 Soccer Scholars to celebrate their academic and athletic achievements as the Revolution took on the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Santander honored the Soccer Scholars, local students recognized for their work on the field and in the classroom, during a special recognition walk on the field in front of the entire stadium. McNicoll also had the opportunity to welcome the players onto the field as part of the Rally Tunnel.  The celebration was part of Santander’s Day of Game sponsorship and its role as the Official Bank of the New England Revolution.

Santander’s Day of Game sponsorship activities celebrate the Bank’s Soccer Scholars program, now in its fourth consecutive year. Santander will recognize 35 star students throughout the 2017 season.

Through Oct. 5, 2017, adults are invited to nominate students, ages six through 17, for the chance to win a VIP match day experience that includes four tickets to a designated Revolution home match, a photo opportunity with a Revolution player, and the chance to cheer on the Revolution as they take the field. Santander Soccer Scholars winners are selected at random throughout the 2017 MLS season, with five scholars honored at every regular-season home game.
