Joseph Stachowiak, Jr., age 84, of Warwick, died on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at West Shore Health Center. He was the loving and caring husband of Helen M. (Fox) Stachowiak. They were married for 58 years.

Born in Providence, the son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Popkowski) Stachowiak, he lived in Warwick since 1950. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Stachowiak was employed at Harris Wholesale in Franklin, MA, (formerly Providence Wholesale Drug Co. in Providence), for 36 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Teamsters Local # 251 and Local # 170.

Joe was a communicant of St.Timothy Church in Warwick for 66 years, and a member of its Holy Name Society. With his wife, he was a volunteer for the Catholic Vision of Hope Campaign, helped plan the 50th Anniversary St. Timothy Reunion, and in the 1970’s and 1980’s worked on the St. Timothy Parish 20 Week Club. He and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels for 7 years. He was a member of Warwick Council Knights of Columbus #2295, and a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph R. Stachowiak of Warwick Neck; and a sister, Geraldine Lewis of Bellingham, MA. He was the father of the late Robert M. Stachowiak; and the brother of the late Marion Stachowiak.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
