Judy Wild retires as city clerk

With the recent retirement of City Clerk Judy Wild, Mayor Scott Avedisian will submit the name of Lyn Pagliarini, the current deputy clerk, for City Council advice and approval to fill that position. He also announced last week that he would submit the name of Lynn D’Abrosca to fill Pagliarini’s present post.

“It is with great regret that I accepted Judy’s retirement,” Avedisian said in a statement. “She has been a valuable and hardworking employee who spent her entire career working in the Clerk’s Office, and in every position she held she proved her dedication, professionalism and commitment to serving the public well and honorably. Judy has done a tremendous job in the several years she has served as city clerk. I thank her for her leadership of the department and wish her well as she embarks on a well-deserved retirement. We all owe her a debt of gratitude for her outstanding service to our city.”

Wild, a Warwick resident, began working for the city in 1992, serving first as the Municipal Court clerk, where her responsibilities included attending court, managing court dockets, and working with judges and the public. From 1995 to 2004, she was the archives clerk, where she was instrumental in organizing the vault for better public access and research and working with title examiners. Wild was also instrumental in obtaining several grants for critical restoration projects. Prior to her appointment as clerk several years ago, she served as the administrative probate clerk. During her tenure, she also covered and assisted all divisions within the clerk’s office, including vital records and land evidence.

“While we will certainly miss Judy, I know that the department will remain in good hands under Lyn’s leadership and with Lynn in the deputy’s position,” Avedisian said. “They are both very dedicated to employees with a strong work ethic. I know their professional experiences will ensure that the department continues to run smoothly and efficiently for the benefit of the general public.”

Prior to being appointed deputy clerk in August 2016, Pagliarini spent some 25 years serving as an administrative assistant and professional transcriptionist in the legal field, including civil, criminal, real estate, debt collection, bankruptcy and probate matters as well as municipal meetings. In her present role, she supervises and supports all daily operations, attends and assists in City Council, Probate and Municipal Court proceedings, and processes all public records requests. A graduate of the Allied School of Court Reporting and the Roger Williams University Supervisor’s Management Institute, she is APRA certified and a member of the Rhode Island Town and City Clerks’ Association.

D’Abrosca is a 14-year municipal employee, who joined the Clerk’s Office as a records control clerk, a position she held until January 2005, when she was named vital records specialist, responsible for, among other things, recording, issuing, filing and maintaining vital records, including birth, death and marriage certificates, and issuing a variety of licenses. She has also served as a general clerk and administrative clerk to the City Council. After leaving the department to work as an assessment specialist in the Office of the Tax Assessor for three years, in August 2015, she returned to the Clerk’s Office, where she has worked as the department’s probate specialist.

She holds a degree from the Community College of Rhode Island and is presently enrolled at Eastern Gateway Community College.
