Junior League knit-a-thon to benefit Foster Forward

The Junior League of Rhode Island, Inc. (JLRI) will host a knit-a-thon on Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 491 Spring St. in Newport. Seats are limited. The cost is $25 per attendee. Both knitters and crocheters are welcome to stay all day or a portion of the day. Continental breakfast and a soup & sandwich lunch will be provided. All attendees are asked to bring a pre-made item to donate to Foster Forward. Items needed are hats, mittens and socks for young adults age 18-21. RSVP to lida.p.cooper@gmail.com before the event date.

Since 1921, more than 16,000 Rhode Island women have participated as members in the JLRI. The JLRI is a statewide non-profit organization committed to developing the potential of women, promoting volunteerism and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The JLRI is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., which is made up of 291 Junior Leagues in four countries.
